A tremendous success despite adverse weather conditions...

We are delighted to announce that the Friends of Grange Park Play Area raised £622 at our Autumn Bulb Planting Event, 'Growing in Grange Park', which we held in Grange Park on 8 November 2014 and was sponsored by Quadron Services.  Despite near constant showers and cold conditions, over 200 members of the community turned out in support!

Adrian and Brian from Quadron Services led the bulb planting in Grange Park- around 3500 winter flowering crocuses and daffodils were planted up around the trees towards the start of the houses on Canon's Hill.  Families in particular were keen to get involved in the bulb planting, and we very much look forward to a beautiful winter and spring display.

In addition, the community were invited to pot up a planter with Spring bulbs to take away and buy handmade cakes donated by local people and Woodcote Green Garden Centre.  Children were able to have their faces painted by local artist Anne Lawless, we had a sweet and seed lucky dip, and the 285 Coulsdon and Purley Squadron Air Cadets ran a welly-wanging competition for old and young alike!

Our sincere thanks go to the Air Cadets and their chief, Paul Janes, for helping us to erect the marquees and gazebos and for running the welly-wanging; to all those who donated cakes; to our loyal and hard-working committee members; to our event photographer, Michael John Sansom, of the Old Coulsdon Camera Club; to the Old Coulsdon Congregational Church and their pastor, Malcom Newman, for lending us some trestle tables, and most of all, to Quadron Services, without whom this event would not have been possible.  Their donations of pots, compost, bulbs, sundries, and our marketing banner were very generous indeed, and we hope to partner with them on future events.
